“A City That Never Sleeps”
Column: The Arts

Although the French artist Floriane de Lassee is still young, she is already famous far beyond France for her stunning series of photographs with views of cities at night: New York, Paris, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Los Angeles. Muscovites saw her works at “The Gallery on Solyanka” in the hot summer of 2006. This year, the artist spent the whole month of March in Moscow. She photographed city panoramas from a bird’s-eye view and from the tops of Moscow skyscrapers. As Floriane de Lassee says, she was inspired by the combination of the city’s powerful energy and its spring freshness, something that produced inimitable deep and saturated colors of the metropolis. The French artist called our Moscow “a city that never sleeps.”
